Prolong Valentine’s Day

Photo of the iconoc LOVE sculpture in NYC for the blog post Prolong Valentine's Day on I love you often just not always, a blog by julie and jennie about love and relationships and other good stuff

Show some love and appreciation to Robert Indiana, the little known artist who created this iconic pop art installation.

Gratitude and acknowledgement have a longer shelf life than chocolates and flowers. Extend the Valentine’s Day buzz with a heart felt vow, to someone you love.

A  Pledge To My Husband

This week I will:

▪                Watch American Pickers and Pawn Stars by your side without grumbling.

▪                Unclutter my desk in our shared office.

▪                Prepare a carbo-rich dinner without a lecture on the benefits of eating raw food.

▪                Use my own toothbrush instead of reaching for yours.

▪                Upgrade my sleeping attire from mismatched flannels to anything else.

▪                Get up early and bring coffee to your bedside.

▪                Take in the empty recycle bins on Monday morning.

▪                Recount all the things I admire in you…. that I assume you know after 20 years.

Love and relationships do best when watered with understanding and acknowledgement. Joe is an early riser. Hope I can pull off my vow to make him coffee in the dark.

Julie

    Hi Julie,
Really enjoyed your “Pledge to your Husband”. Made me laugh and smile. Thanks for that!

Glad you are laughing. In keeping with my Valentine pledge, I did manage to upgrade the pajamas. Slept soundly in yoga pants and a matching camisole…perhaps too soundly.
Slept past sunrise and never made it to the coffee maker. There is always tomorrow!

  2. Joe says:

Thank you Julie. It’s just the thought that counts! Oh BTW, I would substitute Pawn Stars for a guy movie any day!

  3. Kerry Berry says:

Loved it! (though, Joe, between you and I , I can’t imagine Julie getting through any TV show without grumbling…or at least
    without providing some analysis). ;)

By the way, up here in amaine, Robert Indiana is Quite well known -Hs Love sculpture in fact is outside just to mies away from my house on the grounds of the Art Museum.and he lives a ferry ride away in Vinalhaven

Glad to know that Robert Indiana is a household name where you live. Check out the on line video clip of him on Insight. Learning to enjoy mindless TV when a distraction is in order….Ice Truckers really did me in.
